Re-Democratize Democracy

Our current political system is set up in a way that allows those with money to have an excessive amount of power. Through the practice of lobbying and lengthy terms, businesses have been able to overthrow our democratic system in a lot of ways. This needs to be addressed. With this big business at the helm, people's democratic vote is being reduced to a slim selection in order to give the appearance of choice, but at this point the people are choosing amongst two parties that ultimately have their own agendas and these agendas are working to further the economic philosophy of neo-liberalism. There can be no change if we can not select change as a candidate. So, in some ways our democracy has been hijacked. This needs to be fixed by eliminating the ability to lobby, limiting the cost of campaigns to a fixed functional number, shortening term limits, ending the aggrandizement of executive power and working to expand the amount parties available to vote for. Essentially we are calling for a rehaul of the current system to re-democratize our democracy. This must happen so that way we as a country can move into the future with a forum that is constantly cycling through representatives of different people so we can cater to our eclectic nation and the issues we as a collective represent. Our current system is a static one, where class is insulated by class, aimed at implementing a failing idea of modernity, that has turned into mediocrity, revolving around an exploitative and unfair globalism aimed at making big business as easy as possible everywhere, despite the oppression of the common man. In short our current system ensures the constant concentration of wealth, amongst the already wealthy subsequently, stunning the democracy in a crippling way.
